Arsenal have dropped a major clue to Emile Smith Rowe’s Gunners’ future after the exciting midfielder was included in the promotion of their new home kit.

Smith Rowe has been linked with a move this summer and has been the subject of offers reported by Aston Villa, but looks likely to sign a new contract at Emirates Stadium.

Villa have reportedly offered the Croydon-born sensation around £ 25million, but their approaches were pushed back by the Gunners.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is in the midst of a big summer overhaul, with several senior stars set to be replaced with new faces.

However, Smith Rowe is a key part of the Spaniard’s plans and will not be among those heading for the exit.

Arteta expects a busy summer but suffered another blow on Tuesday when Arsenal were beaten by Hibernian in their first preseason game.

The dismal performance of a strong Arsenal side in the 2-1 setback proves Arteta and sporting director Edu still have a lot of work to do ahead of the start of their season with a trip to Brentford on August 13.

Smith Rowe was a halftime substitute and scored a consolation goal for the North Londoners, who were 2-0 behind.

He controlled a high volley into the net after fellow substitute Hector Bellerin stormed the right wing and delivered a cross to the back post.

Arteta replied “no comment” when asked about Villa’s offers for Smith Rowe, but confirmed the starlet was part of his plans.

The 39-year-old will also be hoping to keep compatriot midfielder Joe Willock, although the Newcastle-linked star has not been included in the squad to face the Scottish Premiership side.

Smith Rowe scored four times in all competitions last season and scored his first Premier League goals in successive wins in May against West Brom and Chelsea.

He was often used in a three-pronged attacking midfielder behind striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and formed a powerful partnership with Martin Odegaard.

However, Arteta demanded that Smith Rowe improve his goals and assist in the scores.

The England U21 man has scored seven times and scored seven more in his 45 appearances for Arsenal’s senior side.

“He’s been having an incredible season since he started playing in December,” Arteta said after Smith Rowe scored against West Brom on May 9.

“But he scores his first Premier League goal. An incredible season for a No.10 Arsenal means he has to score 15 goals and give 10 assists.

“Then you are among the best guys in Europe and in the league. He has the capacity to do it, but he hasn’t.

“We have to stay calm with him, give him the right support and step by step I think he will get there.”
