FIFA 22 Ultimate Team has seen plenty of promotions come and go, injecting dozens of top players into the mix. But which of this year’s promotions has been the best? Check out our ranking here.

Even though FIFA 22 players thrive in the FUT Champs and Division Rivals competition, it’s really the promotions that keep them coming back week after week.

A solid bundle of new Special Cards can instantly change a player’s team and rock the entire meta in the process.

But which of the FIFA 22 promotions made the most noise, and which came and went with little fanfare? We have categorized each of them below.

Not all promotions are created equal. Some give us cards essential to be competitive in the higher ranks, and some are relegated to the rank of simple SBC fodder.

These are the best and worst promotions and special cards that have hit FIFA 22 this year.

  1. Rule breakers
  2. FUT Heroes
  3. Road to the Knockouts
  4. To monitor
  5. Adidas on the rise

We’ll be adding each new promotion as they come out, so be sure to check back here for our new rankings.

5. Adidas numbers on the rise

FIFA 22 Numbers Up Cards

One of the new promotions of FIFA 22, EA the collaboration with sports giant Adidas turned out to be a bit disappointing. Not to say that there was no card to invest in – the Diogo Jota and Eder Militao will certainly continue to appear throughout the year.

The problem here is that many cards, despite the phased upgrades, feel behind the power curve. This is mainly because the stats that drop to 99 are dedicated to the boots they wear, which means they’re not always the ones that would make them usable.

Take Mats Hummels from Dortmund, for example. While the prospect of 99 passes is nice, keeping his pace at 60 makes it next to impossible to use in the game.

4. To watch

Ones to watch Team 2 FIFA 22

Ones to Watch is one of FIFA’s oldest promotions, which is kicking off the season with a bang. In FIFA 22, OTW looked promising after an incredible summer transfer window that saw some of the biggest names in the world change clubs.

The problem, and the reason it ranks so low, is that most of the best cards haven’t received an upgrade yet. The likes of David Alaba and Memphis Depay had healthy upgrades thanks to their forms, but the Lukakus and Sanchos were rooted in their normal notes.

That could all change, however. All it takes is a few tasty TOTW cards and it could still be one of the best One to Watch promotions in recent memory.

3. Road to knockouts

Road to the Knockouts Team 1

It was the first promotion to truly offer FUT fans players worth switching teams for. Some of the cards from Teams 1 and 2, even before any upgrades, have been terrorizing FUT Champs players for weeks.

RTTK’s likes Heung Min Son and Marquinhos are meta-maps that will no doubt be usable until Team of the Season. And they’re only going to get better as upgrades for qualifiers start rolling out.

Then there are cards like Mukiele and Tonali, which fill the position gaps in some leagues and make them more attractive to build a team. And, of course, there was also CE Fekir SBC who gave us an all-time great FIFA player used by thousands of teams.

2. FUT Heroes

FUT Heroes in FIFA 22

FUT Heroes has been an idea fans have been calling out for many years, and while EA is clearly only testing the waters right now, it’s been a smash hit. These cult heroes were a good bridge between normal maps and elusive ICNS.

David Ginola and Abedi Pele have established themselves as meta-players who aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Even some of the cheaper options like Fernando Morientes and Robbie Keane are enough to give players sweaty hands on defense.

The only real downsides are their low numbers and the multiple hero upgrades that lowered their market value. Hopefully EA doubles up next year and gives us more of these cards.

1. The rule breakers

FIFA 22 Rulebreakers Team 2

In many ways, this year’s Rulebreakers were all you could ask for from a promotion from FIFA. He brought up shiny cards that will be used all year round and made top players who don’t normally match the meta a viable option.

Fan favorites like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Erling Haaland usually suffer from their low pace. Now they have become some of the best cards in their respective positions.

It also added Creative SBCs where you choose between two versions of the same Rulebreaker. This gave players the opportunity to polish their squad in a way that no other promotion allowed.

Hardcore fans are hoping for more promotions like this as the season progresses.

This was our ranking of each FIFA 22 promotion. Do you agree with our choices? Make sure to let us know on our social media.
