Ex-cop charged with NJ domestic violence assault, harassment

PATERSON — A 28-year-old former police recruit was indicted by a Passaic County grand jury on charges stemming from a domestic violence attack last year.

Joseph Tuminelli, of Paterson, has been charged with third-degree aggravated assault of a victim of domestic violence and fourth-degree stalking in connection with his arrest on February 18, 2021.

Tuminelli was then a member of the Paterson Police Department, having been sworn in the previous summer in July 2020, as reported by Daily Voice.

He had been suspended without pay immediately after his arrest, according to Paterson Times and was eventually fired.

Tuminelli has previously been charged with harassment, a minor disorderly offense.

Stacker ranked the costliest weather disasters per billion since 1980 based on the total cost of all damages, adjusted for inflation, based on 2021 data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The list begins with Hurricane Sally, which caused $7.3 billion in damage in 2020, and ends with a devastating 2005 hurricane that caused $170 billion in damage and killed at least 1,833 people.
