Adidas Originals continues the celebration of the basketball silhouette that debuted in the 80s forums, with the release of more iterations. A recent take on the Forum has been taken with the release of the Retro Basketball style taken to new heights with the women’s Triple Platform Lo shoes.

The ’80s basketball silhouette was invented with a triple platform sole to give women a new height. The brand’s latest makeover comes in a “crew yellow/core black/silver metallic” colorway.

German sportswear giant Adidas founded its co-label named Adidas Originals in 1997, which only promoted heritage products, including clothing and accessories with trefoil logos, in categories such as adicolor and superstars, originally designed by Adidas.

The famous Trefoil logo has only been applied to heritage products since 1997, with styles referencing the early decades between the 1940s and 1980s. The Adidas Orignals brand created a typically nostalgic, old-school retro feel.

This forum-based sneaker from Adidas Originals, called Triple Platform, comes in a new colorway, “Crew Yellow/Core Black/Silver Metallic”, using a textile-based upper. The upper features a nylon mesh-like texture, which intersects with black mesh sections on the tongue, mid-panel, and toe.

Beneath the mesh, a premium synthetic upper in a bright yellow hue can be seen. A durable rubber accent can be found at the top of the toe box to mark a separation between the tongue and toe. The same hardware rubber material is used on the heel unit to respond to 3M’s touches on the heel tab and rear quarter.

The highlighted part of the shoe comes with a subversion of not one or two, but three soles stacked on top of each other, providing unparalleled height and a more comfortable option for platform heels.

The Adidas site defines the product with a brief history,

“Looking for a change of perspective? You’ve come to the right place. Inspired by the style of the 1984 adidas OG forum, these Triple Platform low-top shoes elevate the old-school B-ball favorite with a stacked platform sole, so you can see the world from new heights. Just lace up, fasten the ankle strap and change your perspective.”

The “basketball-inspired shoes with an eye-catching platform sole” can be purchased from the brand’s official website for $150 in women’s sizes UK 5.5 to UK 8.
