Kanye West’s Nike Socks Are Cool, But These 9 Pairs Are Even Better

Kanye West made a deadly sneakerhead sin this week by wearing his Adidas Yeezy Foam Runners with Nike Crew socks. Putting two competing logos is bad enough in the minds of some, but Adidas cannot be happy that its star partner represents its rival brand. Granted, the $ 191million Adidas paid him last year should be enough to prevent such an offense – but that’s Kanye West we’re talking about.

We may not be able to reach Yeezy, but we can take this opportunity to help you avoid the same mistake. Chances are you’ve got Nike and Adidas sneakers in your rotation, not to mention other brands, which is why it’s worth investing in more branded neutral socks to wear with them. And as superior as Nike Crew socks are compared to Adidas, there are still better ones on the market.

We’ve rounded up some of our favorites to avoid any sneaker-sock combo missteps. And while you have no problem avoiding the confusion of optical brands, who could not use a new pair or two, especially to go with the sandals, mules or clogs that define this summer.

Man Made Duck Hair Socks ($ 35)

Bbc Ice Cream

Human Made, Nigo’s successor to BAPE, has more overtly branded socks, but our favorite features this embroidered duck in flight. Why a duck, you can ask? Why not.

Brick and Wood Logo Socks ($ 12)

Bricks & Wood

It’s not just the logo of emerging brand South Central LA, which just had its first collaboration with New Balance, that we love. It’s also the color yellow, which you probably haven’t considered for socks and certainly should by now.

Brain Dead Brain Zap Socks ($ 30)

Brain death

Add some electricity to your sock-shoe combo with Brain Dead, arguably the best streetwear brand to do it right now. By going for an off-white instead of the pure color, you should be able to keep them from looking disgusting for longer.

Anonymousism Tye Dye Crew Socks ($ 32)

Mannahatta

This Japanese brand only makes some of the best socks you’ll ever love – and at a much lower price than you’d expect from a high-quality import.

Three Stripe Noah Sock ($ 24)

Noah

If there’s anything that Noah’s main logo doesn’t look great on, we haven’t seen it yet.

Jacquemus La Montagne socks ‘Les Socks Jacquemus’ ($ 40)

Jacquemus

Aviron Blazers RB Core Socks ($ 28)

Rowing blazers

A simple zigzag stripe brings the standard white crew into something a little more dapper. In other words, the perfect companion for a summer moccasin.

Supreme Hanes Crew Socks ($ 20)

Supreme

Hanes Basics have been a staple of Supreme for a few years now, but this season is the first time they’ve been made in anything other than black or white. We’re big fans of this purple, and even though they’re sold out now, you’ll have a lot more cop chances.

Stüssy Tinted Ribbed Crew Socks ($ 10)

Bodega

Our commitment to Stüssy is well established in our weekly roundups, but a 33% discount makes these tie-dye seals an even more obvious buy.
