Authorities were called to Island Creek Pond around 2 a.m. to report a missing man.

A Duxbury teenager faces a murder charge after his father’s body was removed from Island Creek Pond in the town early Monday, officials said.

Jack Callahan, 19, was arrested by Duxbury Police late Monday morning after undergoing a psychiatric assessment, according to WCVB. Callahan is expected to be brought to justice on Tuesday in Plymouth District Court.

Duxbury Police responded to a call from a resident who said his 19-year-old son had arrived at the house and his father was missing. During an investigation, police discovered the couple had been dropped off at Crocker Park by an Uber on their way home. The police found items there that belonged to the son and then began to search for the father.

At around 2 a.m., police and firefighters found the father “submerged in the pond,” Cruz’s office said. Rescue measures were taken and he was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead.

The chief medical examiner’s office will work to determine how the victim died, authorities said.
